Trek Overview
The Manaslu Circuit Trek circles Mt. Manaslu in north-central Nepal. The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki Valley and crosses Larkya La Pass at 5,160 meters.
The 12-day route starts through green valleys, forests, and terraced farmland. Higher sections become drier and more rugged, with alpine settlements and glacial terrain.
The trail passes through Gurung, Magar, and Tibetan-influenced villages. Traditional houses, monasteries, prayer walls, and farmland give the route its cultural character.
The Manaslu trekking route opened to foreign trekkers in 1991. It is now a popular alternative to the Annapurna Circuit, with fewer trekkers on its remote sections.
Mt. Manaslu rises to 8,163 meters and is the world's eighth-highest mountain. The route also passes through the Manaslu Conservation Area, which protects diverse forests, wildlife, and high-altitude ecosystems.
Samagaon and Samdo are important settlements on the upper route. Pungyen Monastery and Milarepa's Cave are notable religious sites near Samagaon. The area also contains glaciers and old trade routes connecting Tibet with the Budhi Gandaki region.
The conservation area supports Himalayan griffons, golden eagles, blood pheasants, kalij pheasants, and snowcocks. Rhododendron and Himalayan blue pine are also found along the trail.
The trek suits those looking for remote trekking in Nepal, mountain villages, Buddhist culture, and a challenging high-altitude pass crossing. For current departure dates, permits, and trekking arrangements, contact Good Vibe Adventure.
Larke La Pass
Larkya La Pass is one of the main attractions of the Manaslu Circuit Trek. If you are looking for a challenging high-altitude crossing, this mountain pass is an important part of the route. It sits at an elevation of 5,160 meters (16,929 feet).
The ascent toward Larkya La Pass takes trekkers through different environments, from green valleys to dry and rocky mountain terrain. At this altitude, the crossing requires good preparation, acclimatization, and physical endurance.
From the pass, trekkers can see wide views of snow-covered peaks and the surrounding Himalayan landscape. The descent toward Bimthang offers a different view of the terrain and marks the transition to the lower sections of the circuit. The Manaslu region also connects with the Tsum Valley Trek, another route known for its remote villages, Tibetan Buddhist culture, monasteries, and mountain scenery.
Trekkers interested in longer Manaslu region trekking can combine the Tsum Valley Trekking subject to the available itinerary and permits.
