Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a combination of the two magnificent trekking trails of the Langtang Valley and a popular pilgrimage Lake- Gosaikunda (4600m). After reaching to the Syabrubesi, the trip follows the popular Langtang Valley trekking trail and reach up to the Kyanjin Gumba. Then the trek descends down and joins the pilgrimage trail of the Gosaikund. The area is surrounded by the high mountains, glaciers, frozen Lakes, cattle grazing meadows and lush forests. Culture and ethnic heritages are unique in this trekking.
The Langtang region is mostly populated by the Tamang ethnic groups, who are similar to the Tibetans. Several monasteries, Chhortens and Mani walls increase attractions of the Langtang Gosaikunda trekking trip. Gosaikunda is a sacred Lake for both Hindus and Buddhists. Every year they pay their homage in this sacred and Himalayan frozen Lake during the full moon festival around August and September, locally known as Janaipurnima. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and an image is believed to be seen in the Lake in a meditative mode. The views from the trails are superb of high mountains like Langtang Lirung (7345m.), Gangchenpo (5846m.), Dorje Lakpa (6966m.) and others. Himalayan glacial Lakes, glaciers, lush forests, high passes and pasture lands add more attractions in the trip. Mostly the trails lie in the Langtang National Park, which is a homeland of Red Panda and other endangered species. In the spring, it is breathtaking views of blooming rhododendrons and colorful wild flowers. If the trekkers are more interested, it can be again combined with the Tamang Heritage trail. Lauribinayak La (3920m) is the high pass of the trekking.
Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a suitable trip to the adventure, nature and culture lovers in Nepal trekking holidays. However, proper acclimatization is required to be safe from high altitude sickness. The trip begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu, continually heads to the Langtang Valley up to the Kyanjin Gompa, retraces and heads towards the Gosaikunda. Then it connects to the Helambu trekking trail or back to the same trail to Syabrubesi and drive to Kathmandu. Spring and autumn are the best seasons for this trek.
